About Us

Some clothes are made to be seen.
mekko is made to be lived in.

There's a moment every parent knows. You've dressed your child in something beautiful — really beautiful — and watched them spend the whole day tugging at the collar, pulling at the waist, asking when they can change. The clothes won the room. The child lost the afternoon.

We started mekko because we believed something different was possible. That a child's everyday clothes could be as considered as anything else in your home. That "comfortable" and "intentional" didn't have to be a compromise. That Indian childhood, in all its colour and curiosity, deserved a wardrobe built around it.

We didn't want to make another kidswear brand. We wanted to make the first one that felt truly Indian and truly of the world at the same time.

Every mekko piece begins with a question: what does a child actually need from this? The answer is always the same — freedom. To sprawl, to run, to fall asleep in the back of a car, to wake up and go straight to the breakfast table without changing. Our silhouettes are built for this. Gender-neutral, unhurried, made for every room of the house and every moment beyond it.

Then comes the India part. We draw from a country that has been weaving, dyeing, and printing cloth for thousands of years — and we ask what that heritage looks like when it's reimagined for a child growing up today. Spice route palettes. Jali geometries. Himalayan blues. Coastal ombré. Each collection is a story, and each story begins somewhere specific on the map.

mekko is for the child who doesn't know what a brand is yet — who only knows that this one feels right. And for the parent who knows exactly why.

Childhood, uncompromised.
